Miramar Golf Club Officers Re-elected
That the policy being pursued by the committee of the Miramar Golf Club meets with the approval of members of the club was evident from the fact that last year’s committee was re-eleeted en bloc at the annual meeting in the Commercial Travellers’ Club last night.
The president, Mr. A. E. Mabin, who pres ded over an attendance of some 70 members, said that the club was greatly indebted to the ladies who had been responsible for beautifying the gardens which surrounded the clubhouse. Mr. D. R. Richmond, captain of the club, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, said that the club had only room now for eight more members. A further rise in improved laud values or a further rise in land tax might mean an increase, in subscription. During the year the club had been troubled by an increase in weeds, particularly Onehuuga weed. They bad been advised by Mr. Horton that their only recourse was to lift and resow. They had not had the success at Miramar in lifting and resowing, in the past that they had expected, but they hoped for better results in the future. -Their water supply was not in' the best" of order; tunny of the pipes bad been corroded, aud many in the coming year would have to be replaced: There was also an immediate need for the auto-motor to be replaced. The club was going ahead with a tree-planting schem.e and it was hoped to make a new lay-out which would give a length for the course of between 6500 and 6600 yards, and give two new starting points near the clubhouse. The motion , was seconded by Mr. M. JBurnett.
The motjon to adopt the report and balance-sheet was carried unanimously.
Continuity of Policy.
In accordance with notice, Mr. E. Palliser moved that, in order to ensure continuity of policy only two members, and those the two who had held office the longest, should retire each year. This, he claimed, would ensure continuity of policy. After discussion, the motion was carried "to provide that three members and the captain should offer thmeselves for re-election at each annual meeting. Lieutenant-Colonel J. G. Hughes brought up the question of the necessity for more seats being provided at the tees, and the gaptain gave an assurance that the incoming committee would endeavour to see that seats were provided at every tee during the present year. Mr. E. E. Brooking, it member of the committee, said that the committee were fully aware of the necessity for supplying a better water scheme for the links. This would mean that water would have to be brought in at two new* points, Moa Point and Monorgan Road. The committee, he assured members, were a very happy family, and were pulling well together. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, the Governor-General, Viscount Galway (re-elected) ; president, Mr. A. E. Alabin (re-elected) ; vice-presi-dents, Messrs.
