Visitor Front Tanganyika Mrs, G. A. Chambers, wife of the Bishop of Tanganyika, will arrive in Wellington on March 1 on route to join her husband in Christchurch. She will only spend tliiv.' days in Wellington, and there will ha very few opportunities of hearing, Aer story of the work in Tanganyika. silie is to speak at St. Cuthbert's llnll, Bcrhampore, on Tuesday afternoon, when Mrs. Holland, wife of the Bishop of Wellington, will preside. The aim of the work in Central Tanganyika is to develop side by side widespread evangelistic work, schools and hospitals. In maternity and infant welfare work and in the battle against leprosy, wonderful results have already been achieved. In spite of the difficulties to be contended with in regard to trying climatic conditions, disease'anti isolation, a magnificent work is being done by women missionaries in that diocese of 200,000 square miles. Miss Ruby Lindsay, Nelson, is one of those working there at present. In a booklet published on the work in Tanganyika it is reported; “Ninetyfour jier cent, of the six million people of Tanganyika are uon-Chrlstian. African girls are being trained as nurses at every hospital to spread the gospel of healing and health throughout the country. Hundreds of mothers and babies are saved in our hospitals every year. Ante-natal and maternity clinics in the diocese are teaching hygiene, mothercraft and baby welfare. The infant mortality of Tanganyika is from 60 to SO per cent.” Particulars of Mrs. Chambers's meeting are advertised elsewhere in this issue.
