In The Wake Of The Stars

Suddenly, suddenly, out of. the night The stars go sweeping high, And piercing-sharp as a memory Flare the splendid face of the sky. And all the glory of the show Is brave, and gone is fear, Away from the golden stars, and the night, Now far, now far, now near. And through the quivering fields of sky, The gleaming planets ride; And all the earth and all the world Sees and is glorified.

And as an eager bird wings oul, Wings out, wings out in flight. My soul lias heard the call and gone With the stars, and with the night. —Original, Mary Greig (16), Wanganui.
