Two Famous Men

Two men who were later to make names for themselves accompanied Captain Cook on his last voyage to New Zealand. They were William Bligh, who came as master of the Resolution, and George Vancouver, a midshipman on the Discovery. Bligh, as commander of the Bounty, was later set adrift in an open boat, while Vancouver became famous as an explorer of that part of America which is called after him —the province of Vancouver. —D.G.C. (Dunedin.)
