Additional work Is to bo put In band in connection with the Port of London Authority's £12,000,000 port Improvement programme. A contract has been let tor the demolition of the jetties and the construction of a new quay on the north side of the Royal Victoria Dock. The new quay will extend from the old tidal basin at the western end to the canal meat berth at the eastern end of the dock. This Is a very extensive job and necessitates filling in between parts of the existing jetties, the ends of which will be demolished. Eventually new sheds, warehouses, rail, crane, and other equipment will be installed on the new north side quay, which will be 3000 ft. iu length and provide a needed addition to the port’s deep-water berthage accommodation. A contract has also been let for the further extension of the quay on the south side of the Royal Victoria Dock by approximately 460 ft. eastward of
