The Bank of New South Wales, Wellington, quoted the following rates for their purchases and sales of foreign exchange yesterday.

The Associated Banks (other than the Hank of New South Wales) quoted the following dollar rates yesterday, on a New Zealand currency basis. They are subject to alteration without notice.

N.Z. Pound Abroad

Based on figures quoted by the Bank of New South Wales, the New Zealand pound, compared with its original par value, is equivalent to approximately:— 16/1 In London. £l/0/1 in .Australia. 16/1:1 in U.S.A. 1(1/1} in Canada. 13/6} in France. 16/1} in Italy. 9/5J in Germany. 11/8} in Java. £l/8/1} in Japan.

Wellington Poultry Market

Prices of live poultry iu the Wellington markets this week are quoted by Townsend and Paul, Ltd., as follows: — Fowls: White Leghorns, hens 1/6 to 2/6 each, cockerels 1/- to 2/6, pullets 2/to 4/-. Black Orpingtons, hens, heavy, 2/9 to 3/6 each, medium 2/- to 3/-: cockerels, heavy 2/- to 3/6, medium 1/6 to 2/-; Rhode Island Reds, heavy, 3/- to 4/6.
