Insects and Man. Reference to an assertion that only one per cent, of the world’s insects were harmful to man was made by the chairman of the Auckland Education Board, Mr. T. U. Wells, at an exhibition of inr sects in aid of the New Zealand Crippled Children’s Society. “In view of the amounts spent by man in combating the one percent, that are harmful, I think it is a good thing that the other 99 per cent, are not hostile,” Mr. Wells added, amid laughter.
