Clip evergreen hedges. There is still time to plant bearded irises. Sow and plant anemones for winter flowers. Plant out winter-growing sweet peas. Seed of hardy biennials can now be sown. Green fly is very prevalent just now* Spray at the first sign of this pest. Use Nicotine Sulphate. Gerberas will respond to weekly applications of liquid manure. . ... Sow antirrhinums, aubretia, asters, calendulas, calhopsis, pansies, sweet peas and zinnias. The Vegetable' Garden Plots not likely to be used for some time should now be sown down in green crops for digging in. Remove superfluous lateral shoots from tomatoes and shorten the main leaves to enable fruit to ripen. . Earth up celery.
