“HOCH” AND “HEIL”
British Royal Brothers in Vienna
MOBBED BY CROWDS By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received February 25, 6 p.m.) Vienna, February 24. Cheering and shouting “Hoch” to the Duke of Windsor and “Heil” to the Duke of Kent, crowds “mobbed” the Royal brothers several times during their first day together in Vienna. Wherever their car appeared they were immediately recognised and surrounded. The Duke of Kent arrived in Vienna from Munich and proceeded to the Hotel Bristol and took breakfast with his brother, tlie Duke of Windsor, who returned to Vienna from Carinthia. They spent a day sight-seeing in Vienna after spending the morning in vapour baths.
The Duke of Windsor is reported to lie renting Count Paul Munster’s castle for three months. It is situated high in the mountains on the Austro-Italian frontier, and has excellent game preserves. It is possible, however, that lie will inspect other sites before making a decision.
DATE OF WEDDING
Postponement Proposed
Vienna, February 24.
It is stated at Vienna that the Duke of Windsor has agreed to a postponement of his wedding to Mrs. Ernest Simpson if it will ensure the attendance at the wedding of other members of the Royal Family. This is one result of the visit to Vienna of the Princess Royal and her husband, the Earl of Harewood. The Duke sent Mrs. Simpson, as a valentine, a charming old French engraving depicting the goddess Juno, the chief Roman and Latin goddess, and the special object of worship by women at critical moments.
MRS. SIMPSON AT MADAME TASSAUD’S
London, February 24.
A portrait model of Mrs. Ernest Simpson in wax is a featured exhibit at Madame Tassaud’s.
