Allen Doone Welcomed

(From “The Dominion, 0 February 17, 1913.) Mr. Allen Doone, the Irish singer and comedian, who is to appear at the Opera House this evening in “Sweet County Kerry, was accorded a welcome to Wellington yesterday afternoon by a hastily summoned gathering of the Hibernian Society, who wished to do honour to their player-countryman. * * * His Excellency the Governor will be initiated into the Loyal Kilbirnie Lodge of Oddfellows on Tuesday evening next. The ceremony will take place in the concert chamber of the Town Hall and promises to be the occasion of an impressive function. Delegates from all parts of the Dominion will take part, and the lodges of the Wellington district will be represented in large numbers.
