Wellington Aero Club Members’ Trip

Flying over to Blenheim on Saturday afternoon, several members of the Wellington Aero Club took part in a tennis competition with the Marlborough Aero Club, were roundly beaten, and returned in the aeroplanes yesterday morning, having had an enjoyable time. ~ , , Squadron Leader L. Stedman piloted the Waco and had with him as passengers Messrs. R. Morphy and A. Greer and Miss L. MacGoun. The GipsyMoth ZKAAV followed, with Mr. C. Morris as pilot and Miss D. I’atiick as passenger. Miss Joyce Prime tiew the Miles Hawk and had Mr. C. Bennett as passenger. Mr. Graham Martin, captain of the tennis team, llew the Moth Major, taking as passenger Miss Ethel Lang. Later Mr. P. Couch--nian took the Gipsy Moth ZKAAO across, accompanied by Mr. C. Mumford. When the Waco returned yesterday morning it left immediately witli Sir James Elliott, who had received an urgent call to Taupo. Tile Marlborough Aero Club’s Waco, piloted by Mr. A. E. Willis, brought Miss MacGoun and Messrs. E. J. Brammall and T. E. Brammall across to Rongotai yesterday morning and returned with a Mr. Bennett as passenger. Late in the afternoon Mr. J. Cane, lately ground engineer at Rongotai, brought the Rev. Father- Gorman from Hokitika in the West Coast United Club’s Moth Major, Father Gorman leaving Rongotai in time to join the Limited express.
