WOODVILLE SHOW

Improved Entries LIST OF AWARDS Dominion Special Service. Woodville, February 6. Held in brilliant weather to-day, the forty-fifth annual Woodville show was favoured by increased entries and an excellent attendance, the grand parade in the afternoon being indicative of the wealth of the surrounding district and the importance attached to the show by pedigree breeders from surrounding provinces. In most classes entries were a considerable improvement upon those for show's held in recent years and, altogether, the association has every reason for gratification at the success of this year’s fixture. The judges, too, were generally of the opinion that the quality of the stock was an improvement. In addition to the usual ring events, additional attractions were the wood-chopping competitions and classes for Highland dancing. Judge’s Comment.

“I think the standard of the Friesians was excellent.” said Mr. A. O. Cadwallader, the judge. “The winning animals in each class had been successful at other shows, including last year’s Royal. The champions were full of outstanding quality, and many of the younger stock were full of type.” “Excellent Jerseys were paraded before me to-day,’’ said Mr. H. J. Kaye, the adjudicator of the Jerseys. “I had a difficult task in separating the winners in several classes, and it seemed to me that not only were there greater numbers to select from, but the stock was better in quality as well. I was pleased to note that local exhibitors did particularly well, and also that there was a noticeable evenness throughout most of the classes.” Mr. B, H. Slack, the Southdown judge, thought his classes were a credit to the show’. He stated he did not find it easy to differentiate between the champion and reserve. The rams had too much horn for show purposes, but the ewes were all of excellent qualify.
