AMBULANCE DANCE
Presentation of Trophies The Hutt Valley Railway Ambulance Division held a very successful dance and presentation of, trophies at the workshops hall on Thursday evening. Mr. E. T. Spidy, superintendent of workshops, in presenting the trophies, spoke’of the excellent work being accomplished by the division, and congratulated the winners. The following trophies were presentedSelf-Help Cup, Privates L. G. Turner, J. E. Ord, C. M. Cathro, and W. B. Buick; the Merchants’ Association Cup. Privates R. G. Hall, J. E. Ord. H. W. Johnson, and Captain R. McMullen; Avoca Cup, Privates J. P. Carter and B. McKeown, Captain R. McMullen and Private W. L. Stewart; Dutton Cup, Miss M. Carrol, Private Johnson, Miss Butler, and Private Q. Shaprott; the New Zealand championships, for 1936-37 (the Wellington Challenge Cup), Privates B. M. McKeown, R. G. Hall, H. W. Johnson, and Captain R. McMullen. Mae "Robertson’s Orchestra provided the music for the dancing, and Mr, W. J. P. Smith was the M.C. Mr. and Mrs. B. Butterfield sang two humorous duets. The committee comprised: Mr. R. Horwell (superintendent) and Mrs. Horwell, black marocain; Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Ross, marina blue marocain; Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Chappell, black georgette; Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Grey, floral georgette; Mr. and Mrs. W. J. P. Smith, floral georgette; Mr. and Mrs. R. McMullen, floral marocain ; Mr. and Mrs. A. McPherson, brown floral marocain; Mr. and Mrs. T. Pincock, black and white; Mr. and Mrs. Butterfield, green taffetas; Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Johnson, white, marocain.
