DEFENDED DIVORCE

Husband Alleges Desertion

Numerous letters written to him by his wife were produced by James Edwin AVilson, seaman, in the Supreme Court. Wellington, yesterday, when he sought a divorce from Muriel Lilian AVilson on the ground of desertion. The suit was defended.

Mr. Justice Ostler presided. Mr. A. B. Sievwrigbt appeared for petitioner anti Air. G. R. I’owles for respondent. Petitioner, in evidence, said that he was married in England on March IS, 1931. Oij his arrival in New Zealand In September of that year he made arrangements with the immigration authorities for bis wife to join him She was still in England, and her correspondence. he claimed, showed that she had no intention of coining to New Zealand. and that she had made up her mind to, go her own way. Mr. Powles submitted that petitioner had not proved conclusively that the alleged desertion had extended over the full three years, and therefore he was nor entitled to succeed. His Honour reserved his decision.
