DIRT-TRACK RACING
Wellington Season Opens on Saturday Once again Kilbirnie Stadium will resound to the thunder of exhausts and the roar of excited crowds when the dirttrack racing season opens on Saturday night. The track is reported to be in fine condition, and the season should be given a flying start by the presence of Putt Mossman and his team of daring riders on the opening night. Mossman’s “circus” visited New Zealand last season and thrilled thousands with the amazing feats they performed while travelling at speed on quarter-raile cinder tracks. Crashing through blazing walls, climbing a ladder on a speeding and unguided motor-cycle, all kinds.of feats which apparently invite a sudden demise, are all in a night’s riding to this fearless troupe. But in addition to being the finest stunt performers New Zealand has ever seen, they are fast and skilful riders, and they have recorded some very fast times, particularly on the Kilbirnie track, which has. the lowest track record in the Dominion. On Saturday they will be seen in competition with the best of Wellington's riders, led by Jack Hobson, fresh from a successful English season. As well as the motor-cycles and stunts by the Mossman circus, midget cars will be seen in action, including Mossman's machine, which wou for him the world’s midget car championship. Seats may be reserved at E. \V. Humphrey’s, tobacconist, Manners Street.
