RUGBY TRIALS
New Zealand Scheme For 1937 The management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union last night approved of the scheme proposed by the New Zealand Union for trial matches for 1937 to select the players to meet the South African team in the Test matches. When the New Zealand Union's circular was received, the chairman (Mr. J. Prendeville) said the scheme was on sound lines, and according to the views expressed at the annual meeting of the N.Z.R.U. Mr. H. B. Simmons agreed it was a move in the right direction. Mr. J. N. Millard held that the method suggested by the N.Z.R.U. would not try out as many players as In the past. Air. G. F. IV. Jackson said the proposed scheme would make rt easier for the New Zealand selectors. Mr. H. D. Morgan: The scheme throws the onus on the unions to find their best men.
