FAMOUS AIRMAN FEARED LOST

French South Atlantic Plane Overdue (Received December 8, 11 p.m.) Rio de Janeiro, December 8. Jean Merinoz, _ the famous French war ace. is believed to have been lost in the South Atlantic with a crew of four in an Air France mail plane he was piloting from Dakar (Senegal) to Natal (Brazil).

He left Dakar on Monday morning and has not been heard of since he was 420 miles out.

Merinoz is probably the most famous pilot of the Aeropostale service across the South Atlantic, a route which he pioneered.
