DANCE RECITAL
Varied Entertainment Entertainment of an unusually varied nature was enjoyed by the large number who attended the dance recital presented by the pupils of Miss Joane Raine in the Wellington Town Hall Concert Chamber last night. Interest was sustained not only by the skilful work of the performers but by the arrangement of the lengthy programme in such a way that group dances were succeeded by solo and duo performances, and the more involved operatic dances by the simpler romances. In addition there were elocutionary items, and an exhibition of modern ballroom dancing. Of particular merit was the work of Judith Foden in Siuding’s “Danse de Bulle d’Air'; ; Miss Joane Raine as soloist iu the “Corps de Ballet” from "Faust”; and Sheila Tonge as soloist in the "Ballet Operatic” of Lisz:. Miss Dorothy Spinks was at the piano. Tlte programme was as follows: “Dancing on the Moon,” group; "Sea Nymphs.
