Annual Meeting of Wellington Branch TWO ANNUAL MEETINGS At the annual meeting of the Wellington Women’s Christian Temperance Union, held in the Y.W.C.A., Mrs. Perymau took the chair. Mrs. Harry, in taking the devotions, read the heartening words of Psalm 96, and voiced the members’ thankfulness for all the help and encouragement they had obtained from the meetings. A special vote of thanks was recorded to Mesdames Israel and Davidson for their effort for the headquarters fund. The following officers were elected President, Mrs. Israel; vice-presidents, Mesd,ames Harry, Perymau, J. C. Webb and Bolton Smith; treasurer, Mrs. Helyer; cor. sec., Mrs. Cullen; rec. see., Miss W. Thompson; cradle roll, Mrs. Long; evangelistic sup., Mrs. Harry; representative on League of Nations Union, Mrs. Israel; representative on Bible iu Schools League, Mrs. Harry; musical director, Mrs. Turner; "White Ribbon” magazine agents, Miss Betty Dyson and Mrs. Ernpson; social convenor, Mrs. Hoult. The members’ grateful and appreciative thanks were tendered to Mrs. Barrow for all her fine work as president.
The temperance fact was the advice of Lovelock, the famous runner, to men and women athletes, “Alcohol was good for no man —a poison.” A good bal-ance-sheet was submitted. In the annual report it was also shown that good work had been done, especially in the cradle roll department, in hospital visiting, by members for sailors, by correspondence, and by working in with other societies. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Hoult and her helpers. Mrs. Turner’s song gave special pleasure. The chairwoman said a few words, urging the members to do their best to educate people regarding the evils accruing from the drink traffic to individuals and the nation. Wellington Branch. The Wellington W.C.T.U. held its annual meeting recently. There was a good attendance, and the president occupied the chair. The annual report was read by Mrs. Ros.s, who was thanked for her faithful. work during the past year. Mrs, Porte, treasures, read the balancesheet, which showed a credit balance, as also did the “trust” account. Two songs were acceptably sung by Mrs. Patience, accompanied by her daughter. Afternoon tea was served. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows President, Miss Kirk; corresponding secretary, Mrs. Chisholm; recording secretary, Mrs. Ross; treasurer, Mrs. Porte; vice-presidents, Mesdames Perry, Rowe, Mowlem, and Murray. The president thanked the officers who had stood by her so well and wished everyone the compliments of the season. The singing of a hymn and the pronouncement of benediction concluded proceedings.
