LOAN POLL POSTPONED

Wellington’s £349.500 Schedule Three months ago it was announced that the Wellington City Council intended to submit a big loan to the ratepayers this month. The amount mentioned was £349.500, of whi"h £200.000 was earmarked for new sewers and renewals, and £70.000 was set down as the city council’s contribution to the work of enlarging and improving the aerodrome at Rongotai. At one stage it was thought that this loan proposal might tie submitted to ratepayers on the date of the recent by-election, but owing to the fact that file city council had not received authority from the Loans' Board to go forward with the poll, that was found to he an impossibility. Up to the present there has been no intimation to the public that file board has approved the loan, and until that step is reached none others, such as advertising the poll, can be taken. Under these circumstances, and in view of the approach of the holiday season, it has been decided to postpone the poll until next year, probably March Every great Invention is first of all a thought—an idea.
