DEPARTING CONSTABLE
Residents to Acknowledge Services After being stationed at. Island Bay for 14 years, Constable E. Baker lias been transferred to Levin, and last night a meeting of residents was held to consider tlie acknowledging of his services to the district. A committee wits set up to make arrangements for the entertainment of Constable Baker on Monday night, the eve of his departure. The organisers hope to obtain the permission of the Commissioner of police for them to make a presentation. A considerable sum of money was collected in the room for this purpose last night.
