Purchase of Stations Suggested By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, November 18. A suggestion that the Protestant churches of the Dominion should consider co-operating to purchase B stations in the four main centres for religious purposes was put forward at the annual synod of the Auckland district of the Methodist Church to-night, when the part to be played by broadcasting in bringing those outside it into the Church was discussed.. Synod decided after considerable discussion to recommend to the Methodist conference that early in its session it should appoint a committee to consider how best the Church might use facilities for broadcasting and further its use as the handmaid of religion. POSSIBLE USE OF FILMS Matter Before Presbyterians By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, November 18. The opinion that the use of films for religious purposes should be investigated by the Church was expressed by the public questions committee of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand in a report presented at a meeting of the assembly this evening. The committee recommended that sister churches should be approached without delay to secure their co-opera-tion, and that joint steps be undertaken to appropriate tlie power of the film for the Church as a whole. Already wellrecommended religious films had been prepared overseas, and a supply of them could be obtained iu New Zealand. The assembly authorised the committee to continue inquiries.
