Bank of Now Zealand, produce department : The sales have opened with strong competition and large attendance of buyers. The market is very active. New Zealand merinos not represented. Ltd.: Saks have opened with a good tone, competition keen; Bradford and French buyers operating freely. Compared with last London sale’s closing rates, greasy merino, wool suitable for Yorkshire, advanced 15 per cent: wool suitable for the Continent advanced 15 to 20 per ’cent.: scoured merino, best, advanced 10 per cent.: scoured merino, other descriptions. advanced 15 to 20 per cent.; crossbred greasy tine advanced 20 per cent.; crossbred greasy medium and coarse advanced 20 to 25 per cent.: crossbred scoured advanced 20 to 25 per cent.; slipe crossbred advanced 15 to 20 per rent. Levin and Company, Ltd.: 'Tile auctions opened here to-day with very strong oompetilion from a large attendance of Home and Continental buyers. All sections of the trade arc buying, particularly the Continent. As at present arranged the sales will close on December 2. Compared with the closing rates of last sale, we quote: Greasy merino, fine halfbreds. 50/56’s. extra fine crossbreds, 48/50* s, fine. 46/48’s. medium. 44/46 s. coarse. 40/44'*-, and low crossbreds. 36/4(l'*-. also slipe, halfbred lambs, all 2d. to 24d. per lb. higher; slipe. medium and coarse. 2d. to 3d. higher; and scoured merinos. 2d. higher. Continental and Bradford buyers were, the chief operators'. An average selection of wool was offered. Australian merino prices are 15 per cent, higher, and sliped prices 15 per cent, to 20 per cent, higher. The selection of greasy Now Zealand wool was very limited. All countries, includ inc America, were competing. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. Limited : There was a full attendance at the opening of Ihe sales to-dny, competition by Home and Continental buyers being spirited. The opening catalogues were representative. As compared with last sale’s closing rales, prices are higher 2d. to 24d. per lb. for scoured merino, super and greasy merino; prices are higher 24d. to 3d. per lb. for crossbred .slipe. fine scoured crossbred. coarse scoured crossbred, and greasy crossbred, and 3d. to 4d. per lb. higher for scoured merino inferior. Now Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Company, Ltd.: Wool sales opened to-day with large attendance and good competition.
