In the centre slightly. toward the foreground, is Government House in its grounds. Wellington College appears a little to the left of this, and Wellington East Girls' College still further left. In the middle distance is a portion of the Basin Reserve. In the distance, on the right of the top of Mount Victoria, which appears strangely flattened by the angle of view, is a portion of Hataitai. The Adelaide Road-John Street-Riddiford Street junction is in the left foreground.
