ART EXHIBITION
The beautiful collection of oil .paintings and water colours by world-famous English, Scottish, Dutch, Italian and French masters, which are being exhibited on the second floor at 1 Courtenay Place, Cambridge Terrace entrance, will close tomorrow. They were brought to New Zealand by Air. R. Barnett, well known art dealer and expert of the Haymarket. London, who reports that the Dominion has responded very well, and he finds a greater demand for the picture that is painted with meticulous care and full of detail than those of the “modernistic ’ trend. Air. Barnet said that Philip de Lttszlo is recognised as the finest portrait painter in England to-day. His services are in great demand throughout the world. Mr. de Lacz.lo frequently travels to the United States and Canada, where he usually has between forty, and fifty commissions on each trip. Neither England nor the United States has an outstanding landscape painter to-<lay. -Mr. Barnett’s exhibition is open from 9.30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
