T R, LAMASON (Old Boys), with his • score of S 9, is the batsman of the week. This is his thirteenth successive season in local senior cricket, and only a summary can here be given of a record that is full of fine performances. His first appearance was in the first match of the 1924-25 season, when he scored 48 for Y.M.C.A. versus AVellington. That was his best score that season, when he totalled 180 runs at an average of 16.36. He improved greatly the following season, scoring 393 runs in 12 innings, and registering two centuries, 131 versus Midland. and 106 versus Wellington. Lamason had an average of 57.71 for nine innings in 1926-27, when he was available only for the New Year, his best scores being 94 and 52 not out versus Midland, and 52 aud 95 against Perone, in succeeding matches. Scores of 83 versus Institute and 70 versus Thorndon were his best in 1927-28, which was his last for Y.M.C.A., who dropped from the senior ranks. Joining Old Boys the following season, Lamason commenced with an average of 26.85 for that year, and lias never had a lower average in the seven seasons since. His best year in club cricket was in 1934-35, when he scored 518 runs at an average of 47.12, and he also had an average of 41.5 in 1929-30. His best scores since 1928-29 have been 89 not out versus Kilbirnie in 1929-30, 122 versus University in 31, 187 versus Kilbirnie in 1932-33. 127 versus Kilbirnie and 108 versus Midland iu 1934-35. 152 versus Petoue and 84 versus Hutt last season. Lamason has shared in ten century partnerships, the

best being against Kilbirnie in' 1932-33, when, with C. Parsloe, he added 20l tor the sixth wicket. . Altogether in senior championship cricket, Lamason has batted 128 times being seven times not out. for a total of 42a3 runs, an average of ,35.14. zks a bowler, Lamason took only —1 wickets at the cost of over 40 runs apiece up to 1931. his best performance being three for 30 and three for 34 against Midland, when he first bowled in 1924-2 a. Twice since Lamason has taken twenty wickets in a season, and to date his total is 113 wickets for 3388 runs, an average of just under 30.

EKING (Karori), with bis eight wic- • kets for 33 runs, has followed up a brilliant opening of three wickets for 13 runs in the opening match. King first played senior cricket for Midland in three matches in the 1929-30 season, scoring 22 runs iu three innings and taking three wickets for 129 runs. Then he reappeared with the promoted Karori team last season, and showed his value in the first three matches, commencing the season with four wickets for 35 against Old Boys, followed bv six for 31 and two for 14 against University. These were his best efforts, but he finished the season with a total of 26 wickets at an average of under 20. To date King’s record reads:—

Bowling: 40 wickets for 710 runs; average, 17.77. Batting: 20 innings, five not outs, 11J runs; average, 7.46.
