“GREAT SUCCESS’’

Result of High School Concert

“The concert was a great success from very point of view,” declared IMr. J. N. Millard, principal of the. Hutt Valley High .School, at last evening's meeting of the board of governors. “The experiment of putting it on for two nights was fully justified, and on the second night there was scarcely a vacant seat in the house. “The total takings were £129/15/9, apd the actual profit was £9l/6/1 —the chief item of expenditure being £22/10/- for rent of the theatre. The staff has decided to donate £5O to the assembly hall fund. Other grants were voted for various purposes such as an additional roller for the grounds, seats for the .gymnasium, band, school crockery, (library, and first-aid outfits.”

Mr. IW. V. Dyer said that the staff should be congratulated on the concert. It had been a very fine effort.

Mr. J. B. Grey said he had been very agreeably surprised at the items given by the school band. The chairman, Mr. J. Stonehouse, agreed that it had been a fine concert, and said he had heard many favourable comments. He would not like to see any item singled out.

iA motion congratulating the staff was carried.
