It was decided that the Wellington Boys’ Cricket Association be charged the same fee as last year fo rthe preparation of wickets, and that the Wellington Women’s Cricket Association be charged a foe of 7/6 a wicket for the season. The mayor undertook, at the suggestion of Cr. Chapman, to have a report prepared before the framing of the estimates for next year on works that might be utilised to absorb unemployed, with or without financial assistance from the Government. To Cr. J. Read, the mayor said that preliminary discussions had been held with (he Minister of Public Works. Hon. R. Semple, on the improvement of access to the western suburbs. Others were no wtaking place between officers on the question of compensation for closing Museum and Sydney Streets. The mayor. Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, presided over an attendance of Crs. M. F. Luckie. A. Black. IT. A. Huggins. W. Appleton. W. J. Gaudin, W. Duncan. J. Read. All Parlane. R. McKeen. M.P.. C. 11. Chapman, M.P.. and T. Brindle. M.L.C. The mayor welcomed Cr. McKeen, who has been abroad, and Cr. Read, who was elected at the recent byelection.
