GYMNASIUM ENTERTAINS

Kilbirnie Wrestling Club

The Kilbirnie Wrestling Club’s premises were crowded to the doors on \\ ednesday, when their final gymnasium entertainment for the year was given. The first half of the programme was made up of vaudeville, the most outstanding items being those by Miss Heather Wright. New Zealand champion dancer. Other items were two clever Russian dances by Master Alex Shand, vocal numbers by Miss Whittington, Mr. Jim Blackwood (piano accordion), the Revellers Saxophone Trio, and Mr. \ . I‘ raser at the piano. The wrestling contests were very keen and interesting, being mostly inter-club and club ladder bouts. A blindfold novelty bout was also staged and proved very popular. The wrestling bouts resulted as follows:—T. Yuile ’ (Kilbirnie), beat KPaul (Kilbirnie), two falls to nil; H. Ruby (Kilbirnie) beat H. Dooley (*Y, birnie), on points; G. McDonald (Kilbirnie) drew with L. Liddle (Johnsonville). no falls; K. Paterson (Kilbirnie) beat 11. Liddle (Johnsonville), two fa** B to nil; C. McDonald (Kilbirine) beat >)• Cook (Island Bay), one fall to nil; L. Dayman (Kilbirnie) beat D. Wright (Hutt), one fall to nil; ’l’. Aladdocks (Kilbiruie) beat Mahoney (Johnsonville), retired.
