WHISKY DRINKING

Dunedin’s Consumption

Dominion Special Service.

Dunedin, November 12.

A statement published in an English trade journal seems to bear out the contention of those who assert that Dunedin is the greatest whiskydrinking city in the Dominion. For the last week in September exports to various centres of New Zealand were: Wellington, 5894 gallons in eases, together with 1671 gallons in bulk: Dunedin, 3478 gallons in casks and 1228 gallons in cases; Lyttelton, 3830 gallons in mixed lots; and Auckland, 1110 gallons in cases, plus 123 gallons in casks. In proportion to population Dunedin certainly received its full share.
