By Telegraph—Press Association Auckland. November 11

AA’hile loading coal from the Union Company’s steamer Kaiwarra at the AVestern AVharf yesterday afternoon, the scow Kiatia tilted and sank. Tlie mast, however, was secured to the scow Esme alongside, this preventing the Kiatia from going to tlie bottom.

The men on board the scow jumped on to the Esme. Most of the coal fell into the harbour. The scow-was righted with the assistance of the Esme's winch and with help, also, from tlie Kaiwarra, and was hauled up for inspection this morning.
