RIDING HUGE SEAS
Liner Queen Mary in
Storm
London, November 10.
The Queen Mary’s commander. Captain R. V. Peel, says that the recent Atlantic storm was the longest in his experience, keeping him on the bridge for 60 hours continuously, but the ship handled well. She did not roll unduly, despite the lingo seas, and faced the head seas admirably. A number of passengers sustained minor injuries.
The New Zealand Minister of Finance, Mr. Walter Nash, paid a tribute to the Queen Mary’s behaviour amid waves 60 to SO feet high, which lashed his cabin window eight decks up.
