DOLLS COMPETITION

One of the most interesting tables in connection with the Y.W.C.A. “Dolls of All Nations” exhibition being held this week is that containing the entries in the doll-dressing competition. This competition provided four classes of entries, each class being divided into junior, intermediate and senior sections. Au extremely varied group of entries was received by the committee, though in only one class were there enough dolls to be given an award. In the international individual class first place was given to Miss C. Norris, whose boy of the Tyrol is attracting considerable attention. The doll, which is perfect in features, carriage and dress, has been made by hand in every detail, and seems to have stepped direct from his mountain homeland. Also worthy of special mention in this class is the Dalmatian girl by the same craftsman; Miss E. 'Wainwright’s girl from Al-sace-Lorraine, and a Scottish boy, dressed by Miss N, Newton. A most original entry is a two-way doll exhibited by Miss E. Coldstream, while a special international group, the work of members of the Y.W.C.A. Business Girls’ Lyceum, makes a colourful and interesting addition to the table.
