Although an extra round was ordered, the referee was unable to decide between Leo Nolan, lightweight champion of NewZealand, and R. W. Hutchinson, featherweight champion, in the champion nf champions amateur wrestling match at the Labour Hall, I’etone, last night, and awarded a draw. Both men tipped the scales at Ost. . The wrestling in the main bout was fast and scientific. Neither wrestler secured a fall. Nolan took Hutchinson to the mat -with a semi-cradle hold, and followed with a head and armlock. Hutchinson held Nolan in a short-arm scissors, from which Nolan escaped with a reverse toehold to apply a pile driver. He was taken to the mat again in a reverse wristlock, and found himself caught in a rocking-chair splits until the gong. Opening the second round, Nolan tried a dump, but Hutchinson countered with a wristlock and head scissors, only to find himself caught in a strong body .press. Reversing the position, he freed himself. From a toe hold Nolan nearly developed an indian deathlock, but was trapped in a lying splits. Hutchinson snapped on a step-over toe hold which Nolan countered with another toe hold. The third round saw Hutchinson grounded with a headlock. Nolan followed up with an arm bar and head scissors, but Hutchinson escaped with a reverse headlock and toe hold. Nolan countered with a painful forward toe hold from which Hutchinson escaped with difficulty. Nolan piif Hutchinson’s shoulders near the mat with a short-arm scissors, but Hutchinson manoeuvred him into a crucifix. Beard was referee. Preliminary Bouts. The preliminaries, all of which gave the spectators plenty of entertainment, resulted as follows: —■ Featherweight: G. Jowett (8.9) beat N. Silbery (8.10) on points. R. Lockwood (8.7) drew with R. Gifford (9.0). Lockwood secured a fall with a dump and body-press in the second round, and Gifford got him in a similar manner in the third round. Welterweight: J. Sullivan (9.12) beat D. Howland (10.2) with a fall from . a body-press in the third round. Light-heavyweight: T. ’Wright (12.0) beat L. Smith (11.7) with a body-press in the third round.

Middleweight: E. Sandford (10.10) drew with J. Walker (11.0). Walker secured the first fall in the second round with a body-press, and Sandford evened the points in the last round with a headscissors and body-press. Lightweight: A. Blomfield (9.9) beat J. Bear (9.9), the latter being disqualified in the first round. Flyweight.: D. Hunter (7.4) beat G. Sandford (7.2), with a fall in the third round. The flying drop-kick which has gained ■•jumping” Joe Savoldi so many brilliant victories, proved his own undoing last evening when he met Ed Don George in a special challenge match. Savoldi, who weighed 15.4, gained, a submission, fall in the fourth round with a short-arm scissors, and George equalised in the sixth with a press after a series of jolts, forward head throws and dumps. Savoldi rocked his opponent with a vicious flying tackle in the seventh round. After connecting with some vicious elbow jolts the first of Savoldi's expected drop-kicks did not connect cleanly. and George evaded the next one, Savoldi falling heavily on, to .thejropes.
