Inter-chib Matches Begin Next Saturday
The management committee of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association last night completed arrangements to open its inter-club competition next Saturday. October 31. weather permitting. Ranking matches will commence on November 1.
T'he chairman was delegated to represent the association at a meeting of Wellington s|M»rts bodies ou Wednesday. October ‘JS, called by Mr. A. C. Kitto, president <>f the Wellington Amateur A Lillet, ic Centre, to arrange a schedule of important spurting events for the season that would avoid (he clashing of The Taranaki association made tentative application for a representative match in I'ebruary. The committee was of the opinion that the application should lie favourably considered when formally received. A request was received from the South Canterbury association for a quote for the loan of the Miramar grandstands for the New Zealand championships at Tiinaru in the New Year. The quotation decided on was £l5 for the small stand. £25 for the large one, and £35 for the two. The junior advisory committee reported on the schools which had intimated their intention of participating in the coaching scheme, and arrangements were made' for coaching to commence at Ihe Technical College courts at 9 a.rn, next Saturday.
