REPERTORY THEATRE
Ibsen Play “Hedda Gabler”
In the name-role of the Wellington I Repertory Theatre's, production of Henrik Ibsen’s “Hedda Gabler.” which was presented again in the down Hall Concert Chamber last night, Mrs. John Hastings is achieving a personal triumph. Quietly restrained, Mrs. Hastings shows a remarkably clear insight into the warped and rather unpleasant character of the thwarted Hedda. YY’. J. Mountjoy junior’s Jorgen is another competent piece of work, always credible and entirely sympathetic. Edwina Vare. as Mrs.' Elvsted, is also serenely iu the spirit of her part. Mr. Norman Hannah faces the handicap of a physical presence and a. temperament that are not those of Ibsen’s Professor Brack, but compensates for this by a smooth and bland reading. Eilert Lo'vborg. in the hands of Mr. A. E. Hurley, is presented intensely enough to leave an impression, while Mrs. Davies as the aunt, ami Mrs. McKinnon, as the servant, play smaller parts very capably The single scene of the play, au interior, is excellently built, arranged, and lighted. “Hedda Gabler” will be played again to-night and to-morrow night.
