£5O Fine and Cancellation z of Licence

Bv Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, October 6.

A fine of £5O and the cancellation of his licence for two years was imposed by Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., today on Robert Alexander Johnston, a carrier, on a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a motortruck.

Johnston pleaded not guilty. The evidence showed that his truck levelled a well-lit concrete safety zone, and that he was under the influence of liquor when examined 1 at the police station. The defence was that Johnston was suffering from concussion as a result of the smash, which had been caused by baa visibility.
