When the Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club’s financial year ended last week the total hours flying carried out during the year was 648, being a considerable decrease on the previous year’s total. In that year, however, the figures were raised by a fair percentage of unproductive flying. The average number of flying hours over thd last six years is'672. Niue pilots gained the A licence during the year, as compared with six the previous year.
The grading and roiling of the surface of the aerodrome is now almost finished. The surface is very good, and with good weather to bring the grass ou the aerodrome should be in good condition for the summer.
The monthly competition for one hour b flying will be held on October 11. and will hp a bombing and landing practice. Thi< will be a handicap event. The second rounds of the competitions for the Hunt Cup and McDonald Rose Bowl will be held on October 18. • Any competitors who were unable to take part in the first round may still eatei; the com|>etition. and they will be allotted the average number of points gained by all the for the first round.
