Afternoon, Tea
Madame Merlin was hostess at a small afternoon tea at her home in Lindum Terrace yesterday afternoon, when she invited a few friends to meet Mrs. Matthews, Miss Adams and Miss Harris, three of the ladies connected with the Canadian delegation to the Empire Chambers of Commerce Congress. Madame Merlin received her guests in a black hostess gown with wide sleeves and velvet collar, with which she wore a , quaint heirloom brooch. The drawing room and dining room were decorated with bowls and vases of arum lilies, narcissi and glowing Iceland poppies. Others present were: Mrs. Morton Paterson, Mrs. George Mills, Lady Burton, Mrs. G. P. H. Davidson, Mrs. G. A. Bucklin, Mrs. E. T. Spidy, Miss I. Spidy.
America has established a wonderful reputation for smart clothes and that chic so beloved of the welldressed woman. There is now showing in Room 507, D.I.C. Buildings, a lovely selection of American model Suits and Frocks at most reasonable price. An opportunity not to be missed and for one week only.—Advt.
