FRUIT MARKETING COMMITTEE
Evidence at Wellington, To-morrow The Fruit Marketing Committee, the task of -*hich is to make a complete survey of the handling, marketing, and distribution of fruit and vegetables in New Zealand, including imported fruits, will sit at Wellington at 10.30 a.m. to-morrow in the conference room at the Public Trust Office. It will hear the delegation representing the citrus, industry of New South Wales, and, later, a Victorian delegation expected to reach Wellington this weekend. Any interested person desiring to give evidence can arrange to do so by communicating with the chairman of the committee, Mr. A. Coleman, care of the . Industries and Commerce Department. It is hoped as a result of the committee’s work to improve the general distribution system. The committee has also been making a special investigation into the marketing of citrus fruits and visited the citrus areas at Auckland, Tauranga, and Keri Ken. The committee has completed its investigations in other parts of New Zealand with the exception of Wellington and of Nelson and Motueka, where it will sit next week. While there it will conduct an investigation into the hop industry. . The committee will resume at Wellington on October 8, which is to bp the final sitting. It will then make its report to the Minister of and Commerce (Hon. D. G. Sullivan). The committee chairman is a Stratford lawyer, Mr. Coleman, who has been associated for some time. in mortgage adjustment work. Other members are Mr J. A. Campbell (Director-General of Horticufture) and Mr. J. E. Thomas (of the Industries and Commerce Department) .
