Men Fall Down Hold of Tamaroa YESTERDAY’S ACCIDENTS An 80-year-old farmer, Mr. J. F. Baxter, Paparangi Road, Johnsonville, received abrasions to his body, face, and arms and a probable fracture of his upper jaw when he was attacked by a bull early last evening at Johnsonville. The bull was usually of a very docile nature, and caught Mr. Baxter unawares. Luckily he was quite close' to the animal when it attacked him and it had little room to move. He was attended to by Dr. R. F. Aitken, of Johnsonville, and removed to hospital by the Free Ambulance. He was reported to be ,fairly comfortable last night. The Tamaroa, which is berthed at the Plpitea Wharf, was the scene of two accidents yesterday. Both the injured men were waterside workers and both, at different times, fell about 40 feet down the hold of the- vessel. Mr. J. Flack, 3 Bay Road, Kilbirnie, re* ceived a fracture of the right leg and injuries to his back when he fell at 3,50 p.m., and Mr. W. Hunter, Carey Street, received injuries to his back and right arm and suffered from shock when he fell at 9.50 p.m. Both men were taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance. Mr. L. Kendrick, 46 Mount Pleasant, received injuries to his abdomen when the motor-cycle he was riding collided with a motor-car in Arc Street at 10.50 yesterday morning. He was taken to his home by the Free Ambulance, which later removed him to hospital. Mr. 0. P. Magnussen, labourer, 47a Aro Street, was taken to hospital suffering from injuries to his right arm and both legs, received when the motorcycle he was riding ran off the Main Road at Pahautanui at 3.10 p.m. yesterday. ■■ . When riding a threg-wheeled delivery svele on the Main Road, Kaiori, at 42.20 p.m. yesterday, W. Walsh, shop assistant, 5 Chamberlain Street, Karori, collided with a post and received a fracture of tlie left leg and severe lacerated wounds to both legs. He was taken to hospital suffering from shock. A fracture to his right leg was received by Mr. G. Cotton, 19 Rodney Street, Lower Hutt,, radio engineer, when the motor-cycle he was riding collided with a motor-car on the Titahi Bay Road. He was taken to .hospital.
