RELIEF AND INCREASED COSTS
Due to increased allowances of vegetables and fruit under ths, Auckland Hospital Board’s* relief scheme 1 the board has decided to apply for a special grant from the Government. It was explained at a meeting thia week that the present amount available was Inadequate to meet the increased cost of living. A proposal to supply every person receiving relief a pint of milk a day, involving additional annual expense of £11,672, wa» referred to, but the matter of supplying milk was left to the discretion of the relief committee.
