KEAS FOR BERLIN ZOO

Appreciation of Gift Dominion Special Service. Dunedin, September 18. A letter has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company from Mr. Bruno Beyer, of Berlin, wiio was one of those responsible for the proposal that led to the dispatch of keas from the Hollyford Valley for the Berlin Zoo. Mr. Beyer, who says that everything will be done to receive the birds in good style at the Zoo, is going to London to take charge of *be keas, after which he will leave for Ne v Zealand on October 2. He expresses keen appreciation of the details forwarded concerning these birds, and also of the efforts of the men at the Homer Saddle camp in capturing them and forwarding them to Dunedin. His gratitude to the men has taken a practical form in the shape of a gift of £5 toward the purchase of a piano for the camp.
