GOLF TOURNAMENT

Play at Seafield Dominion Special Service. Wanganui. September 18. The annual Seafield golf tournament, which opened yesterday in bad Weather that forced several competitors to withdraw, was continued under slightly better conditions to-day. The westerly wind, however, was found to be a great hindrance. Those With the best scores who have qualified in the first division are:—A. R. Kitto, 75-77-152; R. F. Kitto, 87-83-170. Second division: R. E. Cuthbertson. 95-85-180; B. R. Durie, 93-88-181; K. McFarlane, 91-90-181; S. I’owdrell, 94-88-182; M. Hunter, 91-91-182 Third division: A. E. Alcott, 87-99-186; A. McL Rennie, 100-89-189; A. G. Mackay, 92-99-191; A. B. Currie, 95-98-193; A. Hunter, 96-101-197. , . R. F. Kitto, with net 71 in the morning and net 75 in the afternoon, won both medal matches in the senior grade. A. E. Ascott and B W. Harvey, each with the net score of 70, won the morning and afternoon medal matches respectively in the junior grade. The first round of match play was played to-dav in conjunction with a bogy match. A R. Kitto and B. Power each finished 6 up, Kitto winning on the count back, in the morning. K. McFarlane won the afternoon match, 4 down. In the junior section T. E. Lovegrove, 1 down, won the morning event, and I, Manley, 7 down, won the afternoon match from D. L. Blyth on the count back. Semi-finals of all the. events were reached, results being as follows:— Seafield amateur championship: A. K. Kitto won from B. Power; A. D. Kitto Won from B. W. Harvey; R. B. Cafr won from S. L. Rodger; R. F. Kitto won from H. Siddall. Springvale handicap: H Collier won from R. E. Cuthbertson; S. Powdrell won from M. Hunter; K. McFarlane won from A. Lamont; D. L. Blyth won from B. R. Durie. _ Consolation handicap: T E. T Eoyegrove won from A. E. Ascott; A. Hunter won from A. B. Currie; A G. Mackay won from K. Congreve; I. Manley won from A. McLi Rennie. The finals Will be played to-morrow afternoon. *
