POLICE OFFICER FAREWELLED

Tributes From Colleagues Inspector G. B. Edwards, who has been transferred from Wellington to Gisborne, was the guest at a farewell in the police library yesterday, and was presented with a razor and a bowl bag. The Police Pipe Band presented him with a desk calendar. There were a large attendance of members of the police force from the Wellington provincial district

Speakers emphnsif&d the popularity of Inspector Edwards, who it was stated, was always approachable. He was at all times keen to assist junior members of the force. He had been untiring in his efforts to promote goodwill among the men. The success of the recent police socials was in no small degree due to his work.

The presentation was made by Superintendent D. C. Fraser and the other speakers were Sub-Inspector C. E. Roach, Sub-Inspector H. Scott, SubInspector J. Carroll (representing the detectives), Senior-Sergeants J. A. Dempsey (Central Station), D. J. O’Neill (Mount Cook Station), J. Power (Taranaki Street Station), Sergeants G. Paine, P. Doyle. D. Beard (district, office staff), Constable T. Smith (on behalf of the constables in the Wellington district), and PipeMajor N J- McPhee (on behalf of the pipe band)
