EVIDENCE ON OATH

Inquiry Into Taxi and Carrying Business Evidence on oath is to be taken at the inquiry into the taxi-cab and carrying business, which will open in the Court of Arbitration, Wellington, on Monday, at 10 a.m. Circulars have been sent to all licensed town-carriers and taxi-cab operators with the object of covering as wide a field of opinion as possible. Mr. P. M. Butler, who will preside, said yesterday that it was proposed to deal first with the taxi-cab problem and to hear evidence on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, carriers will be heard.

After leaving Wellington the committee will sit in Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill, Timaru, Palmerston North, Wanganui. New Plymouth, Hamilton, Auckland, Whangarei, Rotorua., Gisborne. Napier-Hastings, and Masterton.
