Johnson-Wells Fight (From "The Dominion,” Sept. 20. “The Times” states that the case against the proposed fight at Earl’s Court, London, between Jack Johnson and Bombardier Wells for the heavyweight boxing championship of the world is strong solely on sporting grounds, and is far stronger on the broad grounds of public interest. An unwholesome and morbid interest would be aroused by the exhibition of the kinematograph films of the fight, and “The Times’ considers it ought to be stopped.

M. Stolypin, the Prime Minister of Russia, who was qhot by a student named Bogroff, is dead.

A great glare in the ink black sky above Hataitai at about half-past nine last night made it very evident to those in the city that a big fire was in progress. A short time later three families were homeless; five houses had fallen before the flames, and all that remained was a half-score of brick chimneys. The fire started in one of a block of buildings at the corner of Arawa and Hataitai Roads, and, fanned by the gale, spread with fearful rapidity to the next building, and in a very little time the five houses were ablaze.
