THE DUTCH FAIR
Wellington City Mission’s Effort There was a good attendance yesterday at the Dutch fair which is being heid at the Town Hall in aid of the Wellington City Mission. In the afternoon the jumble sale was very well attended and the lecture on “Mothercraft” by Nurse Vida McLean was greatly appreciated. Several competitions were held, and the following are the results: —Most original article made from a sugar-bag: Miss Soundy. Palmerston North. Most original article made from material costing less than 2/6: Mrs. Townsley (back towel), costing 10L1., 1; and Mrs. Smith (deeorated bottle), 2. Most original bouquet: Miss Whyte. Original drawing by woman : Miss D. Parmenter. Drawing by girl (14-16) : Miss Marjorie Stent. Carterton. Drawing by boy (12-14) : Jack March. This afternoon a cooking competition under the direction of Mrs. Cole will be held. The judge will be Miss Una Carter, demonstrator for the Wellington Gas Company. An exhibition of wrestling by leading Wellington amateurs will be given in rhe evening, and the Artillery Band will provide the musical entertainment.
