First of Season Comes Next Month The first luxury cruising ship of the season, the new Orient liner Orion, is due at Wellington at the end of next month. She will arrive at Auckland from Australia on October 28, and at "Wellington on October 31. sailing the following, day for Sydney. The Orion will be visiting Wellington for the first time; indeed, she has been afloat only slightly more than a year. She is a ship of 24,000 tons, and is remarkable for the sumptuous and modern interior fittings and furnishings. Describing her accommodation and decor, an English writer said thq Orion was “the most beautiful ship ever launched.’ Other cruising ships to call at Wellington this summer will be the Strathnaver, on November 23, the Orford in Decernber and the Oronsay in February. The Narkunda, which will call at Auckland in January, will not come to Wellington, but will return to Sydney by way of the Bay of Islands. These cruises are expected to be particularly well patronised this summer, as with the return of prosperity after the years of depression there has been a very noticeable increase in tourist traffic.
