RATES LEVIED
Makara County Council Rates to be levied by the Makara County Council for the year 1936-37, were struck at a meeting of the council yesterday, in accordance with notice of motion given by the chairman, Mr. R. G. Mexted ; at a recent special meeting. The rates are based on the capital value of all rateable property in each riding. The general rates struck were as follows :—Belmont riding, SS-64d. in the £1; Makara riding, Id.; Ngahauranga, 58-64 d.; Ohariu riding, 60-64 d.; Porirua riding, 60-64 d.; Tawa riding, 60-64 d. A hospital rate of 24-64 d. was also struck.
